Council Meeting Highlights.........March 6th, 2018
Council met at church on Tuesday, March 6th for a regular monthly meeting. The meeting was opened with devotions by Donna Bolling This was our first meeting in the new Lounge.
Minutes of the February 6th meeting were accepted.
Leadership Development was the election of Officers of the Congregation. Unanimously elected were: President—Dave Yonkings; Vice President—Mark Vitas; Secretary—Donna Bolling; Treasurer—Ed Adkins; Financial Secretary—Chris Yonkings. Thanks to these people who are willing to serve!
Pastor’s Report: This Sunday is the Bagel Brunch Fundraiser at Redeemer for the NYG group; please come and support the girls. Lenten Midweek Series continues on 3 Wednesday evenings in March at Redeemer Lutheran with Soup/Salad at 6:00 and worship at 7:00 pm. This week the guest preacher is Rosy Rivera (FLC), then Becki Verbridge (Emmanuel) and finally Alex Barton (Redeemer Episcopal). Holy Week services: Maundy Thursday 12:00 at Redeemer and 7:00 at Christ with First Communions for Skylar, Leah & Bailee. Good Friday 12:00 at Christ and 7:00 at Redeemer. Easter 7:00 am at Lakeview Beach, 8:30 & 11:00 at Christ, with an Easter Breakfast served from 9:45-10:45 am. The GALS are selling nut roll/angel food cakes for Easter with orders due March 18th. The Lorain Co Sheriff is offering a training for churches around Safety & Security on March 24th at 10:00 am. (Jay & Mark volunteered to go with Pastor Laurie.) Trinity, Vermilion is sponsoring a Christian Rock band Mass Anthem on April 15th; tickets are at no charge but must be obtained. The Co-op is planning a Wine & Cheese Fundraiser at First Lutheran on Saturday, April 28th; tickets are $10. Pastor Laurie will be taking kids to Camp Mowana the week of July 8th-13th. PL will be gone after Easter but will return for worship on Sunday, April 8th.
Treasurer’s Report: February 2018 report—Expenses: $14,353.54; Income—$7,471.78 for a net loss of $6,881.76.
Committees: No reports.
Old Business: Mark advised the council about the progress of the renovation work; right now he is ahead of schedule. The floor should be laid this coming week-end. PL and Jackie met with Denny Krasienko for sale of the Pearl property. (MSC) To contact with Century 21 for a period of 6 months at a starting price of $81,500.
New Business: Council talked about purchasing new chairs for Fellowship Hall. Chris & Deb will continue to research, and Council will meet on Sunday after worship for decision. Dates needed for cleaning for Pearl; PL will talk to Paul Baumgartner. Cleaning for Clinton will be Saturday, March 31st at 9:00 am. Catholic Charities is asking for donation for their Homeless Shelter . (MSC) To send $100 to the Homeless Shelter. The Synod Assembly in Akron is June 8-19 this year—anyone want to go? Next meeting is April 10th.
