Food Pantry Second and Fourth Mondays
November 11th & 25th 6:00 pm—8:00 pm
Many thanks to all who help with unloading, registering, stocking, and carrying bags of food at our bi-monthly food pantries. We couldn’t provide this valuable community outreach program without your help. In September, we helped feed 174 families, for a total of 569 individuals. Our work is truly making a difference in our community.

Second Harvest Food Bank Holiday Cheer
Over the last 41 years, Second Harvest’s Holiday Cheer Grant Program has earned nearly 2 million dollars to help fund holiday food grants, including for OUR food pantry! Their goal for the 2024 season is $100,000, which they barely missed last year! The season kicks off on Tuesday, Nov. 25, when you will start hearing their audio recordings on WOBL, 107.7 FM, 98.9 FM, and Kool Kat Oldies, 1380 AM. Then, Gary and Jimbo will have a lock-in and on-air special on Fri. Dec. 6 from 7am to midnight. Listen for some familiar voices!

Sing to the Lord a New Song!
“I will sing to the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God
as long as I live.” Psalm104:33
Let’s all sing! We are re-starting our church choir! Don’t be afraid: we’re going to take baby steps! We will perform one song, once a month, during the offering; with our first “performance” on November 17th, the same day as our Thanksgiving potluck! The “founding members” had their first rehearsal on Oct. 27th, and they look forward to making a joyful noise together! You don’t have to have an opera singer’s voice…our choir is open to everyone who would like to join us!

Bereavement Ministry
Funeral Dinner Service
“As Needed”
Begun by Mary Fischer many years ago, our offer to host a Fellowship Dinner after a funeral for families who have lost a loved one is one of the most compassionate things we do as a congregation. At a time when families are often at a loss about what to do, we can provide a time and place for them to gather, to eat a meal they haven't had to prepare, and to share memories—both sad and funny—about their newly sainted family member. With no exception, each time a dinner if offered and accepted, the families are incredibly grateful for this ministry at their time of loss.
When Mary turned over this responsibility a couple of years ago, the GALS picked up the task of organizing the food and workers for these funeral dinners. But the lists of those willing to donate food and time are sadly out-of-date, and the GALS find themselves going back to the same people time after time for dishes and dish washers. Though the GALS are happy to continue organizing these meals, this is a ministry of Christ Lutheran Church we all share, and we could use more help in this effort.
If you are willing to make a funeral dinner item (always a side dish since the family provides the meat entrée) such as potatoes, vegetables, salads, jello, desserts, rolls or beverages, please call the Church Office to add your name to the list. If you would be willing to help set-up, serve or clean-up after a funeral meal, please indicate that as well. If we get a good response to this request, the hope is that you would only receive a call to help once or twice a year. That way, no one is overburdened to provide food (which can get expensive) or labor (which can be time-consuming). The GALS will continue to organize the meal, communicate with the family, and order / pick-up the meat, but more help is definitely needed. Call Susan at the church office to offer your service to this Bereavement Ministry. Thanks to all who have been part of this Christian service over the years, and thanks to the GALS for all their work to continue it.
