Council Meeting Highlights........November 5th, 2024
Council met at church on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Devotions by Terri Camp. Minutes of Oct. meeting approved as submitted.
President’s Report: After discussion re: Dave missing December meeting, motion made to change next meeting FROM Dec. 3 TO Dec. 10. Motion passed. Dave installed 2 new hot water tanks; installed new men's toilet; fixed one women's toilet, handicap still needs flushed twice. Talking with Dave Dovala every day for a week. No one knows what's wrong with it! Foundation in for new storage area, to be 11 x 13. Mark to work on it in November. Should be done before next meeting.
Office Secretary’s Report: Office Secretary not present. Dave presented brief report. Office Closed: Dec. 24....Office Hours: Fri. Dec. 27; Office Closed Dec. 31....Office Hours: Fri. Jan.3; Dave signed up for open and close on Thanksgiving. Piggy Banks — Sue Citro: A project with small paper boxes/banks to donate coins/dollars. Usually brought in $400-450. Recipients have been Genesis House, a Ukraine Family, etc. Was very popular. Sue has more than enough boxes. Do we want to do Advent Boxes this year? After discussion, decided: Advent Boxes per usual-Susan to include with newsletter, etc. Piggy Banks for Lent. Kits to remain ongoing. No Pastor Krebill Jan. 5 (Left a message w/Jimmy, but he hasn't answered, yet.)
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer not present (excused). Dave Yonkings presented October financial report, all very basic info. Income was $11,387,11. Expenses were $7,102.41 net gain of $4,284.70. Question why 2 Xerox pymts? Dave to ask Ed. Thank Ed for new line item for Hot Meal. Treasurer's Report accepted as presented.
Committee Reports: Dec. Bluegrass is big event. Free door, great bands, raffle baskets and prizes, large crowd expected. Very small Euch. Min. meeting (3 people) Sue and Deanna to become acquainted with book in lounge. Sue saw several last month. Christian Ed/Youth Kids of Kingdom event Nov. 24. 5:30-7:30 p.m. Theme: Getting Ready for Jesus. 5:30-6 prayer and supper. What is Advent, songs, crafts, etc. No regi. Just tell Sue or Terri. Planning for 13 kids. Chris will get advent candle out. Worship: Need helpers while Dave in Hawaii. Opener, Communion, Count, Lock Up duties assigned. No longer doing grape juice, as it doesn't “last". Fellowship Potlucks in Nov. and Dec. for holidays. Nov. 2 turkeys and ham, plus all trimmings. Sign-up chart available on board. Pantry got tables. One damaged. Got $150 credit and kept it. Replaced white plastic ones. Hot Meal very busy and were short-handed. Served 116 meals. Kitchen remodel Jan/Feb. To cook and serve at neighbor church. Kitch. Remodel to get committee started w/people who work kitchen (Brenda, Marcia, Andrea, Jackie, Christ, Mark Bursley, etc.) Start planning and ideas: what do we want to see happen?! GALS next mtg Nov. 14. Nut roll forms out. Due Dec 1 and p/u Dec, 15. Same flavors/price as last year: $15, $3 profit each. Property: Sign and bell tower next on to-do list. Co-Op Chili ticket sales down, so avail. at door. Start set up 2 pm. Last year was $2700. Hope to meet/beat. Warm-a-Child: Marcia keeping Karen busy knitting scarves while she's "down". To be distributed at Dec. 9 Food Pantry. Adopt a School thrilled w/Hallow. candy. Donna to get pix for newsletter, website, FaceBook, etc. Donna requests line item for next year's budget. (Currently Donna and Deanna) Only one pantry in Dec. due to holidays/3Kings. To be Dec. 9th. 3 Kings apps. avail. So far, 44 received. Donna gave to school. Deadline extended to Nov. 17. Requirements: Based on need: If receive Medicaid, food stamps, care source, etc. Age 12 and under. Call: nothing to report, yet.
Old Business: Midweek Advent Bible Study Dec. 4, 11, and 18.; Wooden Plaques/Cross Location: more ideas. table to next month w/more attendance. Thrivent Mtg: to meet with Jeff and move money. Synod Benev.: do we designate? No. Would like it to go to Disaster Relief. Amount tabled till next month for Ed and Mark input. 15-16 at Midweek Fall Bible Study. Fantastic/very well received. Water tanks w/6 year warranties cost $1,300 total for both. Dave Installed. Sound System: Dave talked to pool client from Open Door. Gave him name of another Sound Guy. To meet in November.
Work in progress: (Just on agenda, so we don't forget!) Signage, New Internet. Game Night, Bowling (To sched after Christmas), Aerobics Closet: to discuss with Mark upon return. To send Melody certified letter with a date of disposal.
New Business: AL Pres. has new pastor. Andrea attended forum at Second Harvest. Great Lakes has new pastor, and plans another advent art piece. Red, Epis: Christmas Card making workshop Dec. 8 at noon; had memorial service All Saints Day plan for annually; Thanks. Dinner 1 pm. Bethesda: Nov. 24 at 6 pm interdenominational service w/pie fellowship to follow. Live nativity Dec. 15 5-7 pm. State of the Church: Keeping the faith…and the energy! Next 3 months to be very busy. Dave appreciates everyone's hands in our work.
