Council Meeting Highlights........September 3rd, 2024
Council Meeting Highlights…..Council met Tues., Oct. 1. Mtg opened w/devotions by Dave Yonkings at 7:00 pm. No agenda additions/changes. Sept. minutes reviewed/accepted as presented.
President’s Report: Card rack to be re-stained, then measure and decide placement. Sue Citro: profit is at least $38 per month, NOT year. Officers had great mtg with Thrivent Rep. Jeff Walker. Ed to discuss more in Treas. Report.
Treasurer’s Report: Sept. Expenses: $5,185.19. Income $15,273.00 for net gain $10,087.81 Liquid Assets $491,395.88.
not reconciled, as today is 1st, and not rec’d statements; may be few changes, but not drastic. Pointed out few line items. Discussed mtg with Thrivent advisor: Looks good, but also looking at ELCA’s MIF. Huntington nor Buckeye have much to offer us. Don’t qualify for Star, just schools/municipalities. To present for approval next month. Report accepted as presented.
Office Secretary’s Report: Discussed Oct. Newsletter error and correction re: chili flyer. Pat to fill in Nov. for Karen Kovacs. Nov. 3 new member (ceremonial) install, short and sweet during worship. Pastor Stylski Nov. 10. Office closed Dec. 24, open Dec. 27; closed Dec. 31, open Jan. 3. Christmas Eve 7 p.m. Thrivent Action Teams sign-up list. Still working w/Xerox re: “light” printing.
Committees: Discussion re: rental price increase. Voted to raise all prices $50 and additional $50 when utilize evening hours (after 4 pm) Fri. and Sat. Need more eucharistic ministers. To announce Oct. 6 mtg. after church. Kids of Kingdom on Nov. 24. (Sue Wickline, Karalynne Vitas, Marcia Harding, Terri Camp, and Karen Kovacs). Voted for Pantry to buy 2 new tables at either $383 or $442 each (up to $1,500). Money is available in account. No grant avail through co-op. GALS to pay for third table. Chili fund-raiser sell 200-250 tix. $12 each. Lillie to provide 36 cupcakes. Susan to provide 36 corn muffins. Signed up for tasks. Need to establish more donations for the co-op, as are losing member churches, and money is WAY down. GALS Cabbage roll sale and work days in October. Next meeting is Nov. 14. Dave to contact city re: water pressure in handicapped women’s bathroom toilet. Has been inspected, no rust/build up. Adopt-A-School collecting Halloween candy. Mitch Phillips approved MSP. We are “live”! 3 Kings Jan. 4. Donna send apps to Adopt-A-School.
Old Business: Midweek Bible Study going well. All praised Pastor Steve’s energy and enjoyment. 16 attend. No study on 9th. Susan to ask Steve about Advent Study and have Steve question attendees. Stephanie and Dave to have another meeting with Gary re sound system. Stove Fans: Inspected, cleaned, tuned up, functioning as should.
Ongoing: hot water tanks done by end of month; bell tower new wood and paint; tree needs down before winter; storage closet foundation laid by end of month; Mark/Karalynne cleaning out aerobics closet
New Business: ELCA Synod donation: past was $5,000. Last year $6,500. Questions re: percentage of income we send. Ed to bring inc. info. to next meeting. Scout offer to rehab gazebo for Eagle project? After discussion, decided not now. Reconsider after kitchen project. Placement of large cross and Lori Payne’s 6 plaques in memory of 16 y.o. son. Following discussion, voted to look at possibilities/re-present at next meeting. Sue Citro Lutheran World Relief kits contain bath towel, 2 bars soap, comb, fingernail clippers, toothbrush. Did 80 this year. Requests place to store approx. 9 large boxes. Voted to continue project. Susan to get Sue tax exempt certificate.
