Service
Food Pantry
March 10th & 24th
6:00—8:00 p.m.
Our semi-monthly food distribution continues, with Pantry Nights on the 10th and 24th of this month. Help is appreciated to help prepare distribution items, register, pack up boxes, and take food to people’s cars. Hungry families in our area are getting good nutrition. Our numbers are growing every month, showing that we are fulfilling a very serious need. We are thankful to Second Harvest Food Bank for the grants we’ve received to help us obtain the food items families need. And we are especially grateful to our loyal and dedicated volunteers. Extra volunteers are in high demand, this winter. If you can spend a few hours, please come help.

Make a Sock-ri-fice, Make a Difference; and
Warm-A-Child, Warm Your Heart
Did Santa bring you new socks and underwear for Christmas? Before you throw the old ones away, consider donating them to someone who is not quite so fortunate. They may be old to you, but clean, gently-used socks and underwear can make a huge difference to a man or women who has nothing; especially in this frigid winter. Thank you for the generosity you have shown in the past, and that we know will be continued in the future. Make a Sock-ri-fice, and make a big difference. Even though this year’s hats, gloves, and mittens have been distributed; it’s never too early to start saving them for next year! As you see sales, or find extras that were hidden at home, bring them into church, and we will make sure they get to those who need them.

Bereavement Ministry
Funeral Dinner Service
“As Needed”
Begun by Mary Fischer many years ago, our offer to host a Fellowship Dinner after a funeral for families who have lost a loved one is one of the most compassionate things we do as a congregation. At a time when families are often at a loss about what to do, we can provide a time and place for them to gather, to eat a meal they haven't had to prepare, and to share memories—both sad and funny—about their newly sainted family member. With no exception, each time a dinner if offered and accepted, the families are incredibly grateful for this ministry at their time of loss.
When Mary turned over this responsibility a couple of years ago, the GALS picked up the task of organizing the food and workers for these funeral dinners. But the lists of those willing to donate food and time are sadly out-of-date, and the GALS find themselves going back to the same people time after time for dishes and dish washers. Though the GALS are happy to continue organizing these meals, this is a ministry of Christ Lutheran Church we all share, and we could use more help in this effort.
If you are willing to make a funeral dinner item (always a side dish since the family provides the meat entrée) such as potatoes, vegetables, salads, jello, desserts, rolls or beverages, please call the Church Office to add your name to the list. If you would be willing to help set-up, serve or clean-up after a funeral meal, please indicate that as well. If we get a good response to this request, the hope is that you would only receive a call to help once or twice a year. That way, no one is overburdened to provide food (which can get expensive) or labor (which can be time-consuming). The GALS will continue to organize the meal, communicate with the family, and order / pick-up the meat, but more help is definitely needed. Call Susan at the church office to offer your service to this Bereavement Ministry. Thanks to all who have been part of this Christian service over the years, and thanks to the GALS for all their work to continue it.
