Council Meeting Highlights........March 5th, 2025
Mtg. Opened Call to Order: By Pres. Dave Yonkings, followed by devotions with Karen Kovacs.
Agenda Additions/Changes: Mark: Thrivent donation/gift cards under new business. Stephanie: Facebook live stream under committees. Karen: How often to send cards to California.
Minutes: From January 7, 2025 meeting reviewed: One Correction: No supper or noon service on Ash Wednesday. Motion by Karen Kovacs to approve as corrected. Second by Donna Bolling. Motion passed. Minutes accepted as corrected.
Pres. Report: Slate of officers for 2025: Pres: Dave Yonkings, Vice Pres: Mark Vitas, Secretary: Karen Kovacs, Financial Secretary: Chris Yonkings, Treasurer: Ed Adkins. Motion to accept by Stephanie Dewitt. Second by Sue Citro. All approved. Motion passed. Installation to be March 23. Moving on these things now: defibrillator, sound system, touching base with Wagner’s re: electric sign.
Treas. Report: Ed Adkins presented Jan. and Feb. financial reports. Jan. inc. was $19,276.03. Exp. were $11,953.66 net gain $7,322,37. Feb. inc. was $8,493.10. Exp. were $6,976.90. Gain $1,516.20. Ed to cut a check for $60.00 for the co-op. Donna Bolling motioned to accept Treasurer’s Report as written. Karen Kovacs second. Motion passed.
Office Sec. Report: Susan out on medical leave of absence.
Committee Reports: Rentals: Got openers and closers for March rentals. Euch. Ministers: There is now a 3-ring binder in the closet to help keep track. Dave will visit these this week: Sue Rhodes, Barb Wright, and Lora Conrady. Christian Ed/Youth: KOK was March 2. 9 kids, and it was great! Fellowship: Easter Sunday to be brunch after church, instead of usual breakfast before church. Hot Meal: Not cooking at St. Andrews, but still serving from St. Andrews. Kitch. Remodel: Meeting with company for prices on sinks, stove, etc. Cabinets still to be determined. Jackie going to Home Depot for design. No info from kitchen people with St. Andrews. Andrea calling Total Line to check kitchen fridge re: mold and freezing things on top shelf.
Pantry: Last pantry was slow (about 60). Grant from Second Harvest to purchase routers to help with wifi (if we get it.) Will cost about $600. Call: Amount of money is limiting our opportunities for a pastor. Limited to new seminarians. Website: Domain name renewal is coming up. It will be $21. Property: To place call to Lorain Police Dispatch for additional drive throughs (daily or 2-3 times weekly) with regards to “parkers”. Also discussed possibility of security cameras or even fake cameras as a deterrent. Co-Op: Potato Bar fund-raiser at American Legion on March 22. Prep to be at our church on 21st (prep). And 22nd: baking potatoes, then take to American Legion. Warm-a-Child: School asked for coats, so Karen called and gave them info for Great Lakes. Adopt a School: Karen Kovacs, Donna Bolling, and Deanna Powell. Donated 85 boxes of crayons. 3 Kings: 2 families didn’t pick up. Not able to reach them. To be taken to Blessing House. Videotaping: Mark and Karalynne giving info to Karen Neuschaefer from their church in Michigan to help with live-streaming. Is real time important to us? If so, maybe stream some other way? It can be posted later with Facebook if real time isn’t important. Maybe try Youtube? California Church: Karen Kovacs volunteered to spearhead. Will send once a month for a year. Lent: Sue Citro questioned how the “piggy bank” money to be handled. Council to determine where money gets donated.

Thrivent card donations: there is a list. 2 $50.00 gift cards are going to Bluegrass fund. Discussed possible purchase of floor scrubber. Price would be about $700.
