What is the Meaning of Lent?
As we begin our journey through these first weeks of Lent, preparing for Easter, we slow down, becoming more intentional in prayer, repentance,
and worship.
and worship.
Just as we set aside time to spiritually prepare for Christmas Day, it makes sense to set aside time to prepare for Holy Week and Easter. Lent is a time that offers us an opportunity to come to terms with the human condition we may spend the rest of the year running from, bringing our need for a Savior to the forefront. Lent is a time to open the doors of our hearts a little wider and understand our Lord a little deeper; so that when Holy Week and Easter arrive, it is not just another day at church, but an opportunity to receive the overflowing graces God has to offer. We begin our Lenten journey with a clear eyed look at the human condition with Ash Wednesday worship on Wednesday, March 5 at 7PM. From there, we will continue to gather for a simple soup/salad supper and worship on the subsequent Wednesday evenings during Lent. I hope you will join us as we walk together toward Holy Week and Easter.

Lenten Banks
In keeping with a former Redeemer tradition, Christ Lutheran will be utilizing special banks to help us focus on Lent, This year, it’s not about what we give up”, but what we “GIVE”. Banks will be on the Narthex table in time for Lent. Simply make it your goal to add to your bank each of the 40 days in Lent. Whether it be a quarter or 50 dollars! Think about Lent (or maybe read the daily Bible passage) each time you drop something into the bank for a truly meaningful Lenten season. Council will be deciding (and announcing) the recipients of the donations very soon!

Holy Week:
During Holy Week, some churches gather each day to meditate on Jesus’ final days before his death on the cross, as Jesus’ suffering is the path to resurrection and new life. While we don’t gather EVERY day, during holy week, here are some special services for you to consider attending as we journey with Christ from darkness to light, from captivity to freedom, and await the celebration of the great mystery of Jesus death and resurrection on Easter Sunday. Start preparing, now! Add these to your calendar with INK!!
